The Knife

Suggested Price $0.50

Sure, we’ve had some killings here. Every US city and town has them these days. They’re also getting weirder. This latest guy, the one the media calls “the Knife”, has been cutting people’s hearts out and draining their blood. I’m looking forward to retiring, you bet.

This Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition adventure pits the intrepid investigators against a serial killer. Is the killer a mundane murderer or something more?

Pay what you like; you can like to get it for free. Revenue from this adventure will be used to purchase stock art for future adventures.

Wasn't this a formerly free adventure with some professor who went to South America, a badly intermixed Aztec=Cthulhu mythos, sacrificial blade of driving insane, and then players 'hunt down the killer' kinda splendor?

Correct; the free Sixth Edition version is still available to download (along with my 47 other free adventures): http://eternallibrary.drmcl.com/cthulhu/.

The one here is a rewrite for the 7th Edition; you can also get it for free

Lets ignore my personal gusto and focus on the more important: Thank you for all your generous, free offers. I hope you found some fans who appreciated it. Specifically on 'The Knife', did you read World of Darkness - Slasher? Could make darkly dreading villains...

I'm glad to contribute to the amount of horror in the world. Wait, that sounds bad.

I'm grateful that some other game writers have told me that my old stuff influenced them; always good to hear that.

I've not read World of Darkness; but your recommendation has put it on my list.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
