Must be Tuesday d66 Tables

Must be Tuesday has a lot of word association for players and GMs to do. It's not always the most intuitive thing for players coming from games where skills are picked from a list or defined with numbers to do, especially for GMs who need to quickly come up with groups of villains, monsters, fellow students and other NPCs to do. Hence, random generator tables!

This book is really rather monsterous for being dedicated to random generation for a single game. It contains no less than 16 random generator charts; 15 d66 tables and 1 d20 table for 560 total results. 4 charts for Skills and 5 charts for Traits broken up by category, Troubles and Desires for both monsters and PCs, alternate settings, items and even a class generator. Even if you don't want to roll for it, it can be good inspiration for how to develop your character if you aren't sure what to take next.

On top of that, the booklet contains two pages of recommendations; movies and television that inspired Must be Tuesday, and a page that acts as a primer for music that fits the Cypress Grove '95 setting.

Finally, the entire book, styled after a student's notebook, is filled with fun little blue pen doodles. It's really overkill for such a tiny book and it's almost criminal that I'm basically giving it away, but it's a suppliment for another book and I don't want to be a dick about it. Still, if it will help you in your games, I'd appreciate it if you threw something my way.

I gotta admit, this is pretty brilliantly implemented.

How about a notebook with d66 tables to describe things using some or all of the five senses. Maybe designed to describe people, things, items, buildings, locations. Useful to describe condition, smells, touch, colors, moods, feeling, sounds, tastes. That would be very useful. For example: I roll on a table or multiple tables to describe a location I know nothing about I could get: quiet, low light, cold, smells musty, then I get a mental picture of a tomb or mausoleum. Maybe I need to describe an item and I roll on a few tables to get: shine, round, tiny, then I get a mental picture of a ring.

That is... an awesome idea. I just might.

Great book, it really helps a lot.

Hey, with the "Space Cadet" Skill on the Intellectual Skill list, is that referring to the slang term of being a space cadet (sort of like being a ditz or air-head), literally being a trained astronaut, the type of keyboard of the same name, or the pinball game of the same name, or something else entirely?

I assumed it referred to the slang term of space cadet, but I thought that would be more of a Trouble than a Skill (making the person distracted and such). Just wondering what that Skill was intended to refer to.

It could be any or all those things! That's the beauty of word association! Specifically though, it would probably come up mostly for checks relating to space stuff, good for aliens and Majestic 12 style secret agents.

After I asked that I reread the bit in the book that says "Remember; this is all word-association. What it means for your character is up to you and your GM." I like that as it keeps things simple.

For example, I was also thinking to myself what the "Create Thrall" Movie Monster Trait might entail. Would that be like a witch or warlock summoning up a servant like a demon or ghost, or raising up a horde of zombies? Or a vampire that is able to turn its victims into its vampiric "children" who must obey it, or even simply hypnotizing humans into becoming their "Renfields." Then I considered that Create Thrall could also be used by a Robot that can use nanobots or something to create other robots to serve it.

But the great thing is, that one Skill (Create Thrall) could represent any of those possibilities, right?

And I now wonder what an "Anarchist's Chef" would be. Sounds like some kind of combat chef? A quick search shows there's some kind of reality show of a similar name I think. I'm imagining someone who fights using kitchen cooking utensils and food.

It's a reference to the Anarchist's Cookbook, so basically it means your character knows how to make and use homemade explosives.

Well I learned something new today. It's been interesting looking up some of those Skills and Traits to figure out what they are a reference to. Like "Immortal Compound Interest." That's when someone goes back in time, deposits money in a bank, then returns to the present and collects a ton of money due to the accumulated interest, right? I'd heard of that before but didn't realize that's what it was called.

Just finished my weekend session about forty-minutes ago. Now magic is being used a lot because of the warlock in the group. I know magic is handled in a very freeform, abstract manner. But generally speak, should magic that affects other player characters or NPCs, but doesn't affect their attributes, have a time limit to them? For example, the Forget spell that causes someone to lose a Skill. That only lasts for one relevant Challenge, right? Well, what if someone wanted to use a Forget spell to make a victim forget a memory rather than a skill? Or if someone wanted to use a spell to...See more

Entirely up to you and what kind of tone you want. For what it's worth, Buffy actually had that storyline, where the memory wipe was permanent... but left behind evidence that could be recognized as part of a mind-altering ritual, if you were in the know. They didn't know what they forgot, but they knew it was something and they knew who did it. As the forget spell was (SPOILER) cast by a character on her girlfriend so they would forget a fight they hand, this went very poorly.

Had a player roll for a random item, and they got an "Electronic Scanner" we all laughed because none of us are sure what that refers to: a radio receive, those things at stores to read barcodes, a thing hooked up to your computer to scan pictures haha? What did you intend with that Item? Since it's on the half of the list that's supposed to be for monster fighting, it made us even more confused since all the other items are more obvious for fighting, being either weapons or things that can assist in attacking, or armor such as things that could protect you from getting hit, but we weren't sure what an electronic scanner was or how that would assist with fighting monsters.

I know this is an old thread but I'm thinking of the P.K. scanner like from Ghostbusters.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
