is this available as a Physical book? Or any plans to do a POD?

Hello James,
the Physical Book has been presented during last GenCon, and is distributed by Studio2.
I'm seriously considering the PoD service too, it seems to be better nowadays

Its hard to get American titles in the UK without the postage costing more than the book so a PoD version would be appreciated.

I expect to start using the PoD service before the end of October

Awesome product. Very much looking forward to your next release. I'm seeing to files for download. The 'revised' edition seems to have missing and/or corrupted art but the 'ENEd200dpi' looks good. Which of the files is the current version of the pdf?

Thank you Joshua!
You should only see the Revised edition, maybe you just "sniped" both during the update.
It has been edited considering all the players feedback.

We are checking the art right now, no rest for the layout artist =)
So far we didn't find anything wrong, can you help us pointing the problems?

The game your describing, Bence, already exist - simply port Witch Hunter to SW and shift it back a century. It is taking the renaissance aspects of early modern europe and pushing them into clock-punk that distinguishes Ultima Forsan. The closest existing game to this novel setting is Clockwork and Chivalry but too fixed in the mid-17th century to be an alternative to UF, IMHO.

Yea, thank you for the ideas. I was familiar only with Hexxen 1730 (not really clockpunk, either) that is similar, to a degree. Additionally, maybe a combination with SW Solomon Kane? Thanks, anyway.

Well, I simply cannot verbalize how rich is its content. It is an excellent dark fantasy setting. Or not? It could have been. There is no magic in it, nor demons. Demons might not be necessary because there are a lot of quasi-demons, beasts here. But: it should surely contain some form of magic, both divine magic (since there are magical artifacts in it!), and arcane magic (since it has e. g. mystical controlling powers!).

Instead, the setting explains almost everything (including: witches, necromancers, manna, undead lords) with superscience/alchemy. There are "magical" powers, but those are also explained in scientific terms. This mindset renders the whole setting to some kind of medieval-Fallout, or zombie apocalypse game with a subject zero.
I feel this game were much better as a dark fantasy game, with a bit more "Ars Magica-like" content - the in-game legends resemble already, which is great!
Will you add an expansion kit sometime, about magic - especially black...See more

Thanks for your feedback, Bence!
We decided for "no magic" in Ultima Forsan, because it is our World, just in an uchronic timeline (and with zombies). So you can have "witchery tricks", some Da Vinci tech and alchemy, but no "real" magic.
Anyway, we planned for a fourth Arcane Background, Necromancy, that will work using "parts" of the Dead, Atrament or similar elements.
It will arrive in one of the next releases.

This is a really interesting setting for a period and place that doesn't get a huge amount of attention. In addition the art is excellent and gives a lovely sense of period to the book. Unfortunately the whole is diminished by some poor text editing &/or translation. Initially I thought it might be eccentric use of English to supplement the art's sense of time & place but as I read on the grammar and tense errors simply grated more and more. What might have otherwise been an immersive read became something of an obstacle course for me. Hopefully now that it's been exposed to a wider, English speaking, audience a volunteer will step up to edit it. A shame given what is otherwise a very good idea.

Hello Alun,
thank you. We were aware of the risk, did our best, and I honestly I have to say we thought we did better.
We will add a native speaker pro editor, and listen carefully the players feedback.

The authors treasured the experience with the first edition and made an "international edition" that is even better than the original (and the art direction has been improved as well).
I played the italian edition of this game and I can't stop appreciating it, the zombie apocalypse is so well merged with history, that it seems a true fact.
I like low-fantasy settings centered on the "old world" during the Renaissance, especially the ones with simple and action-oriented rules, so, considering that there's Savage Worlds engine under the hood, I can say that Ultima Forsan is one of my favourite games.
It reminds me the grim "clockpunk" style of WFRP, if you liked it, Ultima Forsan is surely unmissable.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
