Demon Hunters: A Comedy of Terrors

ADD TO WISHLIST >
Selected Option:

Vampires infesting the mayoral office. Lycanthropes prowling the suburbs. Another kraken making its way upstate along the river. Crazed cultists masquerading as door-to-door religious nuts. Every one of them edging the world one more step toward the next demonic apocalypse.
In your line of work, that’s called Tuesday.

You are an agent of the Brotherhood of the Celestial Torch, hand-picked to serve as Earth’s first and last line of defense against the servants of Darkness. Oh sure, there are others in the Brotherhood who seem more hand-picked than you were, and yes, you probably only work out of a small office somewhere in Michigan or Wyoming or South Dakota, but when it comes to dealing out the damage to the infernal instruments of Hell taking over that shopping mall or the Craz-E-Mart, the buck stops with you.

Lock and load, baby.

This book—packed with tabletop roleplaying rules based on the Fate RPG system—has everything you need for playing Demon Hunters and creating badass adventures so they can strut their stuff. Produced as a result of a highly successful Kickstarter project, it’s got random charts, monster stats, examples, illustrations, page numbers, and a ton of fancy words. But best of all, it’s got you and your imagination to kick off one hell of a good time.

Dice not included.

Demon Hunters and Demon Hunters: Dead Camper Lake are cult-hit films by Dead Gentlemen Productions, creators of The Gamers and its sequel, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising.

You should have some kind of warning that tells people even though it's based on Fate or Fate Accelerated it DOES NOT use FATE Dice.

There's ~70 NPCs/creatures listed in the main book. A small proportion of those are allies but the majority are meant as threats. There are also rules for creating NPCs and as the system allows for minor NPCs to be mechanically simple this can be done extremely quickly.

What's the difference between this book and Demon Hunters Role Playing Game?

This book is a brand new system, based on Fate Accelerated. The Demon Hunters Roleplaying Game is the Cortex System, by Margaret Weis Productions.

Additionally this book has a bunch of updated world lore, characters, and adventure building tools.

No. It's a hardcover with the comic cover. The leatherbound at the moment is only available at Paizo, or through your local game store (if they don't have it they can order it).

This is an awesome system, I've always wanted a system that would mesh something like Army of darkness, The Mist, and Hot Fuzz. This game pulls it off flawlessly, it also helps to have some pals to join you at the table.

I just got done running a game set in Tijuana where an unlikely group of agents investigated a series of playground murders committed by cultists in raincoat robes led by an evil tether pole. After a few sessions of shenanigans and gumshoe work, they confronted evil and made it taste bitter defeat! Definitely a 10/10 in my book for a game and its super easy to learn or teach! -Portocopen

May I ask a question? What does this book have in its extra 250 pages which the Gen Con Beta version did not? Im definitely interested in picking this up, the Beta was nice. Hopefully more GM stuff.

You bet! We have added two full chapters on Magic, and Mad Science respectively, along with some mechanic support for both. There's essentially a bestiary in the back of the book now (that's a lot of pages), as well as a chapter on time travel and a timeline of events. Glad you're enjoying it!

I had the pleasure to run a session of Demon Hunters at a local Con in Germany. I used the adventure Motor City Mojo, because it is very good as a one shot teaser and takes no longer than three hours. Explaining the setting and some basic rules took 10 minutes. Every player picked one of the characters of chapter sigma seven and we jumped for it. The players started to use the rules intuitively very soon. I hardly had to explain anything. Only the difference between creating an advantage and overcoming a problem needed a longer discussion. When we reached the final battle on the junkyard we laughed so hard that people gathered around our table to make out what was going on.

At one point the characters stormed the warehouse to gear up. Tons of TNT, experimental electromagnetic beam weapons, even a tank... I gave them everything they asked for. Just because I wanted to proof that there is nothing they could do that can't be handled with the rules or that would brake the game. Creativity just adds to...See more

Hi. I was wondering if it's possible to turn off the background and keep everything else for printing this out? Also...is it still possible to order the limited edition hardcover? Thanks.

I'm not aware of a way to "turn off" the background. Not sure what you mean by that. And yes, here's the preorder site for the leatherbound hardcover:

https://demon-hunters-rpg-acot.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

A website with character sheets and whatnot is coming soon. www.demonhuntersrpg.com (which also presently goes to the preorder site)

Hi. Thanks for the response and the link to the hard cover book. As for the background I just mean turning off the gray paper texture behind the pictures and writing. I love looking at it on my tablet and computer but printing out a document this large with a gray background will use up a lot of ink probably. The artwork and the text and such is fine. I may just try printing it out anyway though. In most dtp software you can put it on a separate layer and just turn it off and make a pdf. Going to go take a look at the hard cover now. I thought I'd add that the game looks great. Thanks!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
