Creatures of Blood and Flesh

ADD TO WISHLIST >

For millennia a great presence threatened the galaxy. Massive, indescribable, hulking Behemoths living outside the boundaries of space itself culled countless civilizations on a mission of extinction. Using the magical properties of Subspace, they monitored planets for signs of intelligent life. These Behemoths wiped out world after world once the inhabitants reached a critical stage: the development of true autonomous artificial intelligence. It was a real bummer.

Now, after long and brutal combat, the cycle has been broken, the Behemoths all but defeated. True, you drove them back, but the damage they wrought on the already small number of inhabitable worlds was great. You stand now on a momentous tower of possibility. Will you help the shattered Galactic Tribunal pick up the pieces and return to “normal” life? Will you seize power for yourself in a coup, military or otherwise? Will you fight and scrabble for reward as a mercenary of the stars? Will you free yourself of the shackles of responsibility and just have, like, a really chill time out in space?

Above all, how will you respond to the growing number of newly sentient AI life? Will you respect their autonomy and cede your scarce worlds for their use or will you push them back and keep your homes for yourself? Do you even care about your plastic pals? Are they even fun to be with? They may be cold and calculating but you are Creatures of Blood and Flesh. Blood is easily spilled, flesh easily corrupted.

I really love this inventive setting for Cypher. It includes Foci, Descriptors, and Classes so that your characters can easily fit in with the setting. It also gives you a lot of information on what to pull from the core Cypher book and how it fits in. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
