What a brilliant idea! The way these seamlessly integrate into the ICRPG philosophy is ingenious. I tend to be a more "constructed plot" GM but still find these handy for resolving lots of questions I didn't plan for.

Absolutely essential if you are an ICRPG fan, if you are not, still a very useful collection of high quality paper minis and scenics at an excellent price. Hank's art style is awesome.

Nice set of card art. There are different ways you can use the cards, from encounter spaces like a game board to adventure ideas by shuffling the set and drawing around 4-5 cards randomly and creating a story around those. I use terrain in my own D&D 5E campaign, but I have used some of these cards, like the wagons, in my friend's games instead of drawing out the wagons on a battlemat.

Let me say, that the cards are AWESOME! Bought Vol. 1 & 2. I use them in my D&D campaign right now (you can use them in any medieval fantasy system you like), and my players love them. Straightforward, fast, simple and to the point. DM's who like Narrative & Theater of the Mind style of game, look no more. Cost and printer-friendly.

My only complaint: Would like to see some more! I feel the next (fantasy) volume should focus more on:

  • Wilderness (Rivers, forest, roads/crossroads, mountains, fauna/flora...)
  • Urban (Streets/roads, specific buildings/locations, sewers, interior...)

ICRPG is an absolute blast to play. All of the game mechanics are shaved down to to streamline gameplay. It is however not over simplified. The Core book is a real joy to read and empowers the dm to mold much of the game to his tables preferences. The artwork captures the fantasy feel and covers 90% of key elements in any fun adventure. The joy and passion the author has for imaginative and smooth gameplay shines through brightly in this system, a must have in my opinion.

Great set of assets for running your ICRPG games. The system is brilliant on its own, but Hank's art style (as seen in the core rules and this pack) gives the game a unique character and charm. Awesome for use at the table as well as inspiration for your next adventure.

These are so great; they bring the great artwork of the ICRPG core book to your tabletop very nicely (or just add some great general artwork for use with any game system). My oldest son and I had a great time just making a dungeon "draw deck" and pulling cards until a story started to come together.

I love that the dimensions/margins are set just right so that you only need to cut across two lines (technically three cuts: one cut in half, then two cuts into quarters) without having to "trim" around like so many print-and-play items out there.

For an extra polished look (and durability + waterproof-ness) get an inexpensive thermal laminator and 25 (or 50 in case you need spares) 8.5x11" pouches on Amazon. Cut into quarters, put 4 into each pouch with about a 1/8" margin around each card, laminate, then cut into quarters again. They come out beautifully!

I love these cards!!! They have made running sessions amazing!!! Took a party of complete newbs (including me as the DM) from treating tabletop like making decisions in a video game to talking in tounges and accents and creating a rich a lively world to play in. The only thing I wish there was is the option to print the flavor text on the backs of the individual cards.

If you are reading this review to help you decide whether or not to purchase Index Card RPG (Volume1, Volume2, new Volume3, Core Rules) just buy them!

The Runehammer ICRPG is great for inspiration and getting started quickly. If you are pressed for time and rarely play RPG's because you just do not have time to get ready, dive in! Index Card Vol.1 and the rest will give you both inspiration and confidence to play NOW!

Do not wait! Get it! Download! Print it out!

Play NOW! Do not over think (as I have for so long it hurts). I have lost years not playing because I do not have time for D&D or other games. However, after purchasing ICRPG and Index Card Vol.1, I got to play. And I can just stay "Let's play now!" without spending a lot of time preparing.

This RPG style will free you to play NOW! It inspires you and makes it easy to get started.

I friggin' love these cards for story telling and setting up new kinds of encounters. I switch between terrain, flip-mats and Index Card RPG depending on the encounter.

This is a very cool resource. Very intuitive and easy to use.

There are four cards on a page and they not separated by any line. That made it difficult to part it with a scissor (I had to use a ruler and draw lines). If an update would provide those lines, this would be perfect.

Looking forward to the next volume in the line.

I love the art on these things. And the video attached to them has a lot of great ideas in it... Can't wait to try them out!

A couple quibbles:

  • I had my local print shop do the cutting for me, and they had trouble finding a consistent size for the cards. So they're a little jagged when stacked in a deck. Some cutting lines would be great for Vol. 2!
  • The selection is a bit odd. There are four individual roper cards, but only two goblins, and only one human. There are four riding lizards(?), but no horses. That kind of thing.

It'd be perfect if we could get a nautical themed volume in the near future ;)
