A nice multiple path module. But it is not 2 hours long. My group stayed awake during the opening part and I had to adjust on the fly. My players like it.

This is one of my favorite DDAL modules and a great conclusion to the Season 5 Tier 1 arc. Any time someone asks for advice on running a larger battle in 5E, I direct them to this adventures.

I found it really tricky to give enough clues so the adventure was solvable, but not so many that it was too easy. If things progress to the point where the tavern gets set on fire, things have probably gotten too far out of hand.

This is the most open-ended of the season 5 tier 1 modules, and thus has all the advantages and disadvantages of a free-form exploration. On the one hand, this module provides players lots of decision-making and thus emotional investment into the consequences of their actions. On the other hand, any such module is naturally difficult to run as the DM doesn't know how the players will act and risks the players going off completely sidetracked by incorrect conclusions.

In addition, while this feels like an investigative story, the major events of the module are time-based: exploring "too early" (as soon as they get the job) results in dead ends, and unless the characters happen to see Wallace leave and follow him (which seems unlikely), they are likely railroaded into the same result (dual fires). That is, players don't actually have as much agency as they perceive. (And with a lack of named NPCs (the only NPC in the town this module introduces happens to be the culprit), it's not hard to metagame the conclusion even with no clues.)

The fixed timing of background plot events created a great difficulty for my group. They felt the urgency of the situation and began investigating the town before there were any clues of any significance--despite the many indications I gave that it would be best to rest for the night before investigating. This led to a tremendous amount of frustration with the process. Combine that with failing the relatively easy skill checks to find some of the more significant clues and the party barely managed to get caught up in the plot. I had to contrive some coincidences even to give them a chance at finding the boss fight.

I encourage DMs running this to use "plot-convenient" time rather than the times specified in the module itself for events to take place. The plot will hold together less well, but it'll be much more enjoyable for your party. Also, don't require the skill checks listed to find clues, because failing those checks is boring. Give them the checks, but give them the plot regardless of success--reward success with bonus information.

Ultimately, this plays like an older module. It doesn't incorporate many of the tips that have been culled from decades of DMing mysteries, and some of its writing unintentionally discourages the DM from incorporating those same tips. Familiarize yourself with the concept of the module, then run it like a more modern mystery game.

It's.... Okay. Like usual, if the players are murder hobos, part 2 may be hilarious for a while. But on the DM part, I think there are many things the DM have to remember. You really need to read the whole thing carefully.

This was a decent tier 1 module that gave players several exploration options. They liked the ending.

This adventure runs over 2 hours unless you make sure to feed the party enough breadcrumbs to keep it moving. One of the big appeals for Season 5 is the number of 2 hour adventures to keep store play within a Wednesday night schedule and this adventure can go long easily. Overall this one is hard to replay although choosing to rush through a different segment each time can mix it up in addition to shuffling the NPC roles around. I'd run it again but it plays better with a group of players that haven't done it before.

This was the very first AL module I had ever played in, and I thought it was a blast. When I ran it for the first time, all my players had a great time as well. The investigation was fun, and watching them trying to figure out what exactly was going on was funny.

I really enjoyed this season's T1 modules. All give ample opportunities for roleplay solutions, with meaningful consequences both within the modules, but especially in the final capstone. This module is no exception. This module has enough things moving in the background that makes it a great investigation module, where players can play up the classic detective tropes and activities, culminating in some legitimate stakes.

I love this module. Especially, the investigation part in the town is interesting for me. My players and I do enjoyed and one of the best T1 Adventurers League series.

WELL MET ADVENTURERS!!! Bad Business in Parnast was an excellent adventure! Detective mode ACTIVATE! My players were challenged in finding all that they could before bringing solid evidence. I really liked how well good RP was rewarded by the mod. Care by my players made things way more fun, for all, than box text box text combat. The final encounter brought a large challenge to thier faces! The rewards, gratifying! All in all. A well crafted story! Also excellent tie ins to previous DDAL05 content PICK IT UP!!! ALL THE ADVENTURE!!!!

This was a great adventure. I first ran it as a player at Saltcon, and then again later with my son and his friends. I love the twists and the mystery about who is messing with the town. We had fun the whole time. Good combat and a lot of good roleplaying opportunities.

I loved this adventure. The investigative part is not trivial, there are various occasions for Role Play and events happen with a good cadence. Great magic item for Tier1

This might replace Uninvited Guests as my favorite of the season 5 T1 adventures. The investigation was a ton of fun to run, and as a DM I got to lead and mislead the characters to keep things interesting. There are a lot of alternate paths the characters can go on, which influence the arson section and the final battle. The final battle was also fun and challenging to run.
