I really like the new classes, and the differences in flavor between this book and pugmire, but i was really hoping for new monsters compaired to the other book. i was really saf there was no monk or paladin in pugmire. the arcane caster has more of a sorcerer feel than the pugmire book, and the differences between the other classes make them different enough to each be relevent.

The book is cool. It contains enough information to start (and even finish in case of non-spelcasting characters) playing, and still holds back enough to wait for full-access book. Game is balanced between funny and serious, cute and severe. Great! Will wait for final version, and also books for Rats, Badgers and (especially and foremost!) Lizards!

Mechanically sound, and clever in many aspects, but I have to say I'm dissapointed in the lore. I'm tired of the old cliche of "Cats view Humans as their worshippers", when both modern behavioral science and any cat lover will tell you this is not true. Cats view their owners as their parents. Giant, non-hostile, super powerful cats who nurture them and take care of them. The relationship between us and our furry friends is much more parent and child.

So to see the tired old "oh, selfish cats, of course they view man as being their servants" just made me sigh. You could easily have kept the arrogancy/heresey of the cats compared to the dogs in Pugmire, by having them view themselves as being Man's chosen inheritors. "Of course we are meant to control the world, we're their choscen descendants! They groomed us as their children!"

But I digress, the rest of the product is solid, and if that part doesn't bother you like it does my cat loving gamer group, it's a great purchase.

A fantastic companion to Pugmire, even in its early-access form. The concept of giving different races access to different callings highlights their cultural differences in a way that both makes a full-cat party entirely playable, while still encouraging the use of cat characters in a Pugmire game. Giving all characters the option of learning magic in the same way that magic-users can learn to use better armour is also a very nice step towards fluid character concepts.

I really love what they have done with the 5th ed rules. it seems they trimmed all the outdated stuff that somehow stayed in D&D, and added in some great story friendly rules ( like drop the useless alighnments, and replace it with personality traits, which you actually get rewarded for roleplayimg them).

The magic system makes so much more sense with how they use spell sots (it is pretty much magic points by another name). They use a reward system similar to insparation, but has more uses. There are several othere streamline rules that makes the game a better version of 5th ed (IMHO).

just like Pugmire, I am very fasinated with the post-appocolypic fantasy setting, where animals have evolved after mankind had vanished.

it does not have pre-gens (character creation is really easy tho) or an adventure, but for $2 this game is a total steal!
