Sorrow of the Sand Lord

Looking for a fun and engaging, fairly quick module to run your group through? Looking for something with a heavy desert/Egyptian feel? Look no further than this wonderful gem!

I cannot recommend this highly enough--the characters in it had my players hooked from the start--especially Silas (I RP'd him as needing a translator, their NPC guide, since none of them could speak his language, and the Witch didn't think to use her "Comprehend Languages" spell--for those of you who've seen MIB 2, the whole improv scatting chat between J and the Mail Worker, something like that). They carried him around the entire dungeon, and just went nuts.

It is very well written, the story really IS sad, and the characters really ARE engaging. The traps and riddles are very clever, and it is one of the most straight forward and well laid out modules I've had the pleasure of running (none of this players are in one of the front areas and info you may need to give them is mentioned in a box three pages later)!

Very well done, I seriously cannot say enough good things about it.

My players agree (at least the ones I'm near right this moment!), so seriously--if you've not got it, GET it. If you're not sure, try it out (it's pay what you want), then come back and throw all the money at it (it deserves more than the suggested price--seriously, this is a great module). Because seriously, your group will love this (if they like Egyptian/desert stuff)!

Hey, thanks for the positive review. It really warms my heart to hear someone else got a kick out of this and I'm glad to hear your players enjoyed rolling around in a dark and dangerous tomb!

Do ye like boats? Do ye like sailing? Yar ye do! Do yerself a favor and grab this guide. Nice and easy laid out, even easier to use, and gives many more options over what you'll be finding in that Blessed Tome, the DMG. There's not a game I be runnin' where this isn't in play.

Run a pirate game set in the Golden Age, where yer party starts as a crew stranded with nary more'n a skiff twixt the quad of 'em, and work their way on up to a First Rate Ship o' the Line. This has the rules for it. Recreate the ship to ship combat in a certain pirate film series. Chain shot, grape shot, 36lb guns, this do be having rules for all.

If ye and yer crew be needin' a solid code (well, more like guidelines, really) to be sailing by when ye be runnin' the game, this be the product ye do be looking for!

Dervish Class

Bought this specifically to build an NPC. The whole concept is really fun, and it seems to be well balanced. It's well worth the $1!

I do think that the Raging Tempest dance style will likely be the primary choice for anyone using this, though. It's just so far and away better at what the class was designed for (melee fighter based on charisma without being a casting class). The momentum points mechanic is just sheer brilliance, inspired even.

Works well for the flavor, particularly if you're in a desert/arabian type setting. Well done on it, 10/10, do recommend.

Looking forward to when the full version of this comes out. Huge fan of 1001 Nights, currently running my own homebrew desert setting based in part on Al Qadim, in part off Dark Sun, a bit of Dune thrown in, and my own experiences living in the Middle East first hand. This book reminds me some of that, and I get a feeling of comfort and home from it.

The races are interesting, reading over the playtest rules, the classes are pretty spiffy, and I cannot wait to find out more about the 101 Nights of Wonder, and how they could play into various plot points in games and whatnot.

All in all, solid book.

I like this. I mean, 5e took away the Druid Animal Companion, which meant I don't get Birdie. But this gives an option to have a combat pet (granted it comes at the cost of picking your circle) that isn't extremely OP. The beast takes turn on your initiative, and the actions it takes are YOUR action, so it's not like you're getting two attacks per turn (at least to start--as it grows, true to how it should function, it gets more powerful).

Those of you who miss your animal companion from 3.5, this is a pretty balanced way to get that back.

It's one page, it's got a beautiful layout, and looks like it came directly from the PHB. Heck, this Circle option is better than some of the stuff the UA has put out!

TL;DR If you play a druid and want your companion back, this is the best and most balanced way I've seen to do that short of having the GM give you a non-combat companion to come along with you. ALL HAIL BIRDIE!
