These are really helpful if you use Hero Lab. Selecting the various Spheres of Power, making sure any bonuses are respected, etc is really useful.

For example, a 20th level Elementalist counts as a 15ht level caster for most Spheres. But for the Destruction Sphere they'd count as 20th level, which affects the damage they do, their Save DC, their range, etc. After the last update (make sure you read the README included so you set the Source correctly to get these updates) that difference in casting levels is correct, with the exception of range. Since that is only listed on the general Spheres tab, it won't list the proper close, medium, and long ranges for Spheres where the caster has a higher level. If they were included on each tab, as save DC is, this wouldn't be a problem anymore, but is a very minor issue.

If you use HL and SoP, this is a must-have.

My gaming group basically requires that all players create their characters in hero lab, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that Drop Dead Studios decided to make hero lab files available for Spheres of Power. If these files weren’t available, I would never have been able to convince my group to try out this 3rd party ruleset!

I have not noticed any real issues with the way spheres works in hero lab. So far I have found that everything works cleanly and it contains all of the most important things that we needed from the core rulebook such as the new classes, spheres powers, and casting traditions. In addition, recent updates have added an important feature that was missing before: creating custom spheres powers. This is very helpful for players who are using the new handbooks that add additional powers to spheres. Of course, this doesn’t help people that want to use any of the new archetypes, but at least the recent release of hero lab files for the Expanded Options book leaves me optimistic that eventually everything will be supported.

The only other thing that is really missing from the spheres hero lab files right now is the ability to freely add spheres casting to any character or creature. Being able to add spheres casting to any existing creature or character in Pathfinder would be extremely useful for a GM who wants to create spheres casting dragons and such, but the lack of this functionality is not a deal breaker for me at this point.

Overall, I believe that these hero lab files are a necessity for any player or gaming group who uses hero lab and wants to begin using spheres of power.
