To begin, I must admit that I enjoyed my reading. However, the content of this book could have been much richer. A resonable price for a quick reference though. I would recommend it to any player, with warning. I regret not having bought the hardcover color book. I found myself buying both PDF and Hardcover color book afterward. The only thing I would ask for is more content. I would pay twice the amount for 3x content.

I would gladly pay 29.99 for hardcover color book of Toreador content anyday, but that just me.

After buying Lore of the Clans I was really excited to hear about Lore of the Bloodlines, and eagerly bought it as soon as it became available. I was a tiny bit disappointed in what I got. There is plenty of good stuff within the book, however a in a couple of clans it feels like the writers decided to play it safe. The writing quality is not always as good as it could be (There was one line that stands out..."I wish I were strong, like a brujah" or something like that which wasn't great) and the layout of chapters are inconsistent. However It does explore 9 bloodlinescovering information I had never seen before, and reading the book gave me numerous story ideas. I did a full review breaking down all the aspects of this book that are noteworthy on https://itsmorethanjustgaming.com/2017/04/27/v20-lore-of-the-bloodlines-review/

I am glad I bought it, and the price was reasonable. I just feel it is one of the weaker source books I have read.

I have been anticipating this book for some time, and I was not disappointed. It provides in-depth write-ups on a number of the Bloodlines, along with new merits, combination disciplines, and other goodies. I personally enjoyed the Kiasyd and Samedi write ups the most, but I felt like they all brought something worthwhile to the table. For some it is largely a restatement and consolidation of things we've seen before, which is not necessarily a bad thing given the at times murky and contradictory backstories of some of the bloodlines, but for others it brings forth a number of new angles and possibilities to explore.

This is one of those books for which the descriptor should tell you whether or not you'll enjoy it. If you've read V20 and still aren't a big fan of the Bloodlines in general, while the writing, art, and greater insights might be enough to convert you, it's very possible there isn't much for you here. However, if the idea of this book sounds like something you would enjoy, then you will very likely be pleased.

This is a well-made book that delivers exactly what it promises, and it does it well. Probably my favorite v20 book so far, apart from the core.

I bought this interested in expanding my own ST library / V20 array of items, and partly to see what V20 did with bloodlines like the Baali or Kiasyd (I wish bloodlines like the Noiad might be options, but those can be fairly easily house ruled).

In that, this book did not disappoint. For fans of the earlier lore, there are plenty of references to help Vampire players get into V20 like a pair of favorite jeans.

Lore of the Bloodlines is an excellent addition to any Vampire ST's library. There are both new and old elements here that will make you appreciate the book. From new merits, new flavor, and new disciplines, you are gaining something, no matter what your style of game is like.

Okay, anyone whose read many reviews for these books probably thinks I'm a shill for Onyx Path or something, but I do quite love these books... Well, I WAS fairly disappointed in that V20 Ghouls book. Anyway, this one is kinda amazing.

First off, the CONCEPT of Lore of the Bloodlines has been, like, over twenty-five years coming. The first of these vamires I remember seeing was the 'blood line' Salubri from the Players Guide back in '91, and then came the Gargoyles, Blood Brothers (sadly not in THIS book) and Baali from the '92 The Storytellers Handbook. After that, an explosion of bloodlines came, each with lovely hints and mysteries to explore. Not until now, though, have we received a proper look at these Kindred and Cainites – and even stranger identifiers to listen to these monsters – in a single book.

Know that ALL of the bloodlilnes are not in here. As a 'stretch goal' for the V20 Lore of the Clans Kickstarter, this book was funded in stages. The bloodlines that appear here are those that the backers were able to achieve, so the above-mentioned Blood Brothers, alas, didn't make the cut. However, the nine bloodlines we DID get are a very nice spread of posibilities from the entire run of Vampire: The Masquerade. I don't see the limited scope as a ding against the book so much as the ever-present 'wish I could'a had' chance to winge.

Good points: Well-written in character and out of character bits; evocative as well as informative art that fits the V20 aesthetic; and very consistent, polished presentation all combine to make this book a worthy addition to the line. These are the easiest to quantify, but there's more to love here.

My favourite part is how the presented information offers more new and myeterious content than even the gigantic Lore of the Clans did. Since there was no previous edition, the amount of apparent cut-and-paste (of ideas rather than literal, mind you) that we've seen in some other V20 books is very small here. Further, the book isn't afraid to contradict what we already know... or THINK we know. Bits from older books are as often called out as lies as they are mentioned as fact (Kiasyd with Necromancy, anyone?), and while oddities like those presented in, say, The Black Hand: A Guide to the Tal'Mahe'Ra aren't mentioned for the Harbingers of Skulls, nor are they outright contradicted. It's all presented more as the POSSIBLE than as anything required. Like when I first discovered the idea of bloodlines, this whole book feels novel., but the format like that of the Lore of the Clans makes it easy to use at the talbe and elsewhere. It's a familiar presentation of something new.

In all, I find this book a wonderful expansion of the World of Darkness that my vampires inhabit.

Overall, the book is really good. It fleshes out the Bloodlines in interesting ways. I like the Samedi, Daughters, and Gargoyle chapters the best - I think those stuck closest to old canon while still being widely usable, and the Gargoyle variants are great. Those become more playable. The Trujah chapter is good in that it tells their side of the story more. The Kiasyd have a sommalier schtick added to them, yet no explanation of how they create these vintages that provide heady rushes - this should've been detailed and just better than taking Crafts with a specialty in Blood Vintages. Baali are still...Baali. Modern Salubri (not just the Sabbat variety) are detailed and semi-playable, but only where there are not Tremere, because, well, Tremere. Harbingers are also included, and have one utterly broken merit that is pretty much a must-have for any Necromantically inclined character.

Overall, the one big complaint I have with the book is that it adds more to the True Black Hand being the super cool vampires while the rest are just dupes trope that is just tired already. It is time to provide meaningful updates on the Camarilla and Sabbat. Still, it is definitely worth the purchase, and there is plenty of wonderful stuff for any type of game, Camarilla, Sabbat, Anarch, Independent, and yes, those dippy Tal'Mahe'Ra licks too.
