FSpaceRPG is the home of FSpace Publications, created back in 1991 to take a homebake roleplaying game and take a crack at going commercial.

The product went commercial in the late 1990s domestically and has slowly expanded.

We also publish material for generic gaming purposes, and have other games coming. We've delivered our games mainly as ebooks, but also have a number of mobile apps available to assist your gaming, whether with our games or others.

This site provides information about our products, but is mainly aimed at providing support information, news and views. If you'd like to participate in some way, get hold us via our contact form.

Gildorph city ships are one of the largest starships known to have visited known space, yet they are virtually never encountered.

These enormous metallic looking organic starships are actually part of the Gildorph and are often described by the Forerunners as a cell in the wider body of the Gildorph that spans the galaxy.

Much is written about them, and Forerunners records have visual recordings and other notes about them.

However most civilisations barely encounter them, and when they do, they are often on extreme range sensors.

These large starships keep their distance from most civilisations, hanging around in parts of space most races don't inhabit, largely because of the extreme danger these ships represent to most organic life just through mere proximity.

Such vessels may be detected far out in stellar Oort clouds harvesting distant bodies, or in extremely tight orbit around inhospitable stars, basking in the rich energies and particle flux from an active star. On occasion, such ships are detected near gas or water giants in remote systems, dipping in and out of their atmospheres in elliptical orbits, drinking in volatiles. They typically never found near terrestrial worlds, unless they lack higher life forms, or are dead worlds - typically those known to have been destroyed by the Mechs.

In some backwater uninhabited systems a city ship may be found trading with a race that is unaffected by proximity, such as the Forerunners.

Terrans, like many of the races of known space have little dealings with the Gildorph, and never with city ships. In the 22nd century between the 50s and 80s, only one city ship is known to be in known space, typically detected by remote automated sentry posts or by long range survey ships at the extreme edge of detectability.

Given the low density, Terrans have speculated there may only be a few hundred Gildorph ships throughout the galaxy if they are evenly spread. If the count is higher, then they must be clustered in location patterns they, the Forerunners and other nearby races have little data on. They are hoping securing Mech records in the future from ruined ships and sites may reveal more about the distribution of the Gildoprh and the past conflict that erupted between these two galactic spanning civilisations.

A forthcoming short scenario called Madness is Golden will tell the story of what happens when a Terran vessel encounters such a ship at short range, and what the impact is to those onboard. It will be the only known close encounter within the 4 decades of initial interstellar presence by Terrans and will set a precedence for further encounters for centuries to come.
