Ankur - Kingdom of the gods is a sci-fi tabletop role-playing game based largely on ancient Sumerian mythology. The game takes place on Earth just after the great flood, some 25,000 years in the past. A species of Alien beings from the planet Nibir, in the farthest reaches of our own solar system, come to Earth to mine gold for the production of Mana. Through genetic manipulation, they create a variety of humanoid slaves to mine gold.

A series of cataclysms and power struggles set in motion events that will entwine the destinies of these species forever! Since the great flood many forgotten ruins and ancient alien technologies lay buried, awaiting re-discovery and exploration. Strange monsters roam the land, remnants of a pre-historic past, all but swept away by the hands of fate. Politics and treachery are around every corner as alien and humankind alike struggle to claim their place in this world. It is up to the players to decide the fate of Earth. Prepare to enter a world of pre-historic monsters, flying saucers, swords and sorcery. Adventure awaits you in...

ANKUR - Kingdom of the gods!

Hello!
Sorry to ask, but is this already the revised edition of ANKUR, or that is not yet available?

Hello Michael, sorry for the late reply. To answer your question, YES the new version of the game will include all the rules errata ... even things that were not previously mentioned in the existing errata. I am currently working on a revised edition of ANKUR. It should be available by December 2021.

Hello,I have a question. I would like to purchase the new Africa book as well as any other material available.I am just a bit confused about one thing. I have the Ankur core book. It is a hard back. I presume it is the first printing since it does not say *Player's guide* on it. I watched a vid and also noticed the different layout.I found one on your post which mentioned that the first printing has a mistake on p53.. but my version does mention Garradum M.E. So my question is which printing do I have?; I presume it is the first one. If so , where can I find the errata file? I can not buy a new core book again unfortunately but would love to support your products.
Thank you for your help, kind regards

Hi Christopher - Quick question for you. Are there any elements of Ankur which touch on ancient Egypt (or are there any planned supplements that might include this area)? Thank you.

It is not often that an excellent and original RPG idea gets a chance to be published; Ankur is both of these. It is clearly a labor of love by its creator, who compares himself to the debatable greats of the industry, and has clearly put much work and research into Ankur. (I vehemently dislike Monte Cook products, but Gygax, Simbieda, and Jackson all have revered spots on my shelves).
If you are looking for an original setting which has been well composed, I recommend it.

I have to say I am very happy with my purchase. I'm so in love with this game, as a it is something I have wanted to explore in a rpg for a very long time. So thank you for your time , energy, and creativity in this endeavor. The system is very unique, after I have had more time to read everything I will give a review. Just wanted to say thanks.

well, basically, you add your skill level and stat number to create an "action potential number" or APN, then attempt to roll this number or less on a D12. Any thing higher than your APN is a failure. A 12 is always a critical failure. To score a critical success, you must roll your exact APN.

For some reason the cover in the pdf seems muted in color, I'm not sure if this suppose to be the case since the preview cover seems to make it out to be much brighter in tone.

Hmmm.....it's not supposed to be muted. I'll try to fix that and re-upload the content. This will make the product unavailable for purchase for 3 days however.

I've been in some Kickstarters where a bright cover in .pdf printed into muted colours in a hardcopy. This phenomenon is called "saddening" which is because of problems converting from an RGB (red green blue) system in .pdf to the CMYK system used in commercial printing (cyan magenta yellow and black). You may want to get some advice about how to make an adjusted .pdf for printing purposes only.

I really enjoy Ankur, great job! I run a small online tabletop zine and I was hoping that you'd be willing to be subjected to an interview. We're trying to get more independent devs some air time and you seem like someone who could be a good first subject. - B Paulson/Mythossanta

Contrary to Konstantin F, and being a digital-only gamer, I'm massively put off by the fact that a 300+ page pdf with full color raster artwork is only 12MB in size.

Downloaded the sample, and as expected all those lovely illustrations are completely ruined by being a pitiful 72DPI. Looks absolutely dreadful on high ppi screens and I personally find it incredulous that in this day and age publishers are still putting out such insultingly low-res electronic products for digital customers.

Personally, and given the abundance of high ppi screens in consumers' hands, I feel that the time has long passed were at the very least 120-150DPI should be the minimal base standard for raster graphic intensive documents moving forward. And it should then also be no problem to provide at the same time a low-res copy for customers like Konstantin F whom prefer small file sizes over graphic fidelity.

Anyway, end of rant; and sorry to say, but you lost a sale here due to this.

Hi Tim, sorry that this aspect of the product upset you. As I've said before, the files submitted to Drivethru are high res 300+ DPI. They modify the files for digital pdf only sales and this is why so many publishers even today still present you with 72 DPI pics. I personally didn't do anything to downgrade them or ruin your gaming experience. It probably keeps the products in a form most universally accepted by everyone. Please keep in mind that digital-only gaming is still a fairly new phenomena, and this product is best viewed in its intended hard copy form. I will however, look into updating the digital version (if possible) to better accommodate people like yourself in the future. My apologies.

Hi Chris, not all money is good money, and if this is how he minges about a free sample I can't imagine the poverty-driven rant he would induce on the community. I think the game is awesome and if I were you I would laugh his non-review off as the price of trying to do anything original in the 21st Century.

Bought it and it looks really good. I love that the pdf is only 12 mb sized, but indexed it would be even better :) Will you update the pdf soonish?
And I think you could give an adventure for free with the rulebook. The background is so refreshingly new and uncommon, that I have a hard time imagining an adventure alone.

Thank you so much. I was going to add a free adventure in the core book but it got too lengthy and expensive to produce. I'll see what I can do about some freebies in the future. The pdf and print version of the book are from the same file, Drivethru modifies it, but I will look into updating it somehow.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
