The spirit of Old Time Radio lives again with On the Air, the storytelling RPG that faithfully emulates the action, excitement and mystery found in the radio programs of the 1930s and '40s. Construct a series, create a sponsor, whip up characters and you're ready to play. Once the series is created, very little prep time is required to play the game, thanks to the narrative structure of the Intention System.

Get ready to engage in an all-new way of narrating your character's actions... and don't forget to promote your sponsor's products to earn the potent Sponsorship Token! Each episode is allowed only a certain number of die rolls in order to depict the tight time restraints of those old programs, so you'd better make every action count!

On the Air is best enjoyed by one Director and between one and three players. You'll need d4s, d6s and d8s.

The game seems good, I can't wait to play it, but the image used for the cover is a bit stretched and as a result, a bit grainy. You might want to get a higher quality image for the next version, or a drawning of some kind. I suggest a radio, where the shadow from it is profiles of adventurers of various genres around a old-timey microphone. Haven't tried this system yet but am looking to play. Which is better, this or Stories from the Grave? I'm an avid horror comic collector, but had also devoured many many hours of OTR (mostly the horror shows). So, I guess me question is, can you do horror/mystery easily with this game or is it best to just go with Stories from the Grave?

Purchased this today and its going on the table tomorrow - I've had Tales From the Grave for a while now, and the excellent Intentions system has influenced my own home-cooking.

OTR interest in blooming among my friends - contemporary audio drama is similar but divergent and pulling in interest as well. Any time I put one of the Dark Adventure Radio Theatre plays on at parties I get interest. OTR makes for a lovely intersection between the non-verbal production elements on film and the limitless budget and imaginative power of language employed in prose.

I'm glad you like the Intention System and I would love to hear how your game went.

Your take on the attraction of OTR (and audio drama in general) mirrors my own.

Ah, come on man. :) Whether they meant it as a joke or not, It's still highly original and shines a light on one of the cooler points in western storytelling. The radio shows of the 30s and 40s are some of the most entertaining, unique and creatively produced entertainment out there! There's a reason that they've transferred so well to the internet, beyond their relative cost, in fact I've seen a few RPGs here that are official tie in material to some successful modern day radio shows.

I...uh, like radio shows... heh... and will be buying this and any full core's they release. :)

Proper communication isn't the easiest thing for me, any offense is unintentional.

Oh, it's very real. I just bought it. Still just starting to read through it, but so far it looks very, very good. (the only problem being how do I find another few old time radio geeks around here to play with?)

It's absolutely not a joke; it's a well-designed game. I'm pretty sure the release date is just coincidence. If you like OTR, you'll want this.

Play a few episodes of the Lone Ranger (Brace Beemer episodes), Suspense, or George & Gracie - The field is ripe and ready to harvest. You'll get a few gamers.

Or move to Rosenberg, TX.

My regret is that my buddy Jim Harmon didn't live to see this.

I sit corrected. I did enjoy The Big Crime, so perhaps this would blow wind up my skirt, too.

I bought the book without hesitation because I have faith in Cynthia.
Cynthia has captured all the genres so well that her books are always treasures to me (even if you don’t play the system).

Barak’s intention system is fast pace. My players complains about the combats slow the narration down, and this system is the best solution in market imo.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
