Fate of the World contains five playbooks of player classes for Dungeon World that has gorgeous cover art done by Nick Ladd. This pack features the figures that rise to the challenge of saving the world when darkness falls upon the land.

The Fated Hero: You are a figure who is at the heart of every myth and fairy tale. You are the knight in shining armor; you are the hero who will save the world! You and your allies go on whirlwind adventures, traveling to forgotten cities, busy capitals and devious dungeons for the sake of saving the world.

The Mentor: You are the wise and enigmatic senior of great understanding who oversees the training and guidance of new adventures out on their quests across the realm. You offer them insight and guidance in fluid and often poetic life lessons. However, when things get rough, you are no slouch in a fight. Use your aged intellect to direct you younger allies, and failing that, you have a few tricks up your sleeves to deal with whatever the world throws your way.

The Prophet: Nothing can spare you from the visions the gods mercilessly grant you, but if the fate of the world will ever be fought for, you will be the first to know. Use your visions of things that may come to warn your fellow adventures before it it’s too late or see great tragedies about to befall the world. Religiously raised folk see these visions as a blessing and holy duty they must attend as others suffer it as a punishment from above and try to shun it.

The Fateless Hero: You have spent your life dreaming of the day when you would become an exalted hero, saving the world from utter ruin and fulfilling prophecies. However, the acrimonious truth is that you are unseen by the threads of destiny and are cursed to be forever forgotten. The gods have no plan for you. There is no greater force in the universe that has included you in their design. You lie to yourself and promise to do great things, but almost mockingly; all the glory and recognition you seek seem to slip through your fingers and is given to others.

The Sidekick: How could any respectable hero save the world without their trust sidekick at their side? Team up with one of your companions as you two form a dynamic duo. Overcome obstacles by preforming moves together and take down enemies with the Combo Attack.

As others have said, there are a lot of good ideas, but middling execution. Generally the playbooks feel a bit messy, both in terms of editing and mechanics. Many moves just give bonuses, some moves are a bit overpowered, some moves are a bit too bus [...]

I wanted to like this bundle, so I took a risk on it. The concepts sounded pretty cool, especially the Mentor. But what I got was a collection of classes that are way too heavily dependent on roll modifiers. The number of "+1 forward", &qu [...]

It deserves the three stars for its concepts alone, but the wording on the moves feels clunky and messy. I don't regret acquiring the material, but I feel I'll have to work on it before using them in actual play. It's like there's a gap between concept [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
