Intriguing NPCs #3

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Crawling through dirty dungeons filled with dastardly undead and slaying megalomaniacal mages is a great fun, and someone’s got to do it, but nothing gets your PCs as jazzed as intrigue, espionage, spying and spy-hunting.  Give your PCs a chance to walk coolly into a room and declare, “My name is Elf-friend…Evangelina Emoria Elf-friend.”

Intriguing NPCs #3 will introduce you to two NPCs up to their eyeballs in in secrets and secret missions.  Whether you use modules or create your own fantasy world, this ebook will make it easy and fun to add intrigue to your fantasy roleplaying campaign.

My name is Kyle Hall.  I live in Washington State and I’ve been GMing a mostly monthly game of DragonQuest for 30 years, with occasional forays into D20, GURPS, Shadowrun and my own homemade system.  For most of these years, the players and I were adventuring in a world of our own creation.

My players have fought monsters, killed wizards, met dragons and defeated possessed swordsmen.  They enjoyed it, as did I.  Who doesn’t enjoy a little carnage?

I noticed a special enthusiasm grow in the players and in me, however, when I finally introduced political intrigue into the game.  I want to help you do the same for your players.

Section 1 of this ebook answers the questions:

  • Why would we want to add intrigue to your campaign?...and
  • How do we get started adding intrigue?

Section 2 introduces us to a woman who is the leader of a monastic order of women teachers…and a spymaster.

Section 3 presents a somewhat saintly mediator…who has a habit of getting into trouble.

For each of these NPCs, I give you:

  • Their history and their current situation
  • Their long term goals and their quirks
  • Advice on adapting these NPCs to your game
  • How to use the NPC:
    • As a resource for your PCs
    • As a traveling companion
    • As a patron for your PCs
    • As an enemy
  • A list of ways your PCs could meet this intriguing NPC and missions they might send your PCs on
  • A quote from the NPC, to help you further understand their character.

Our Promise:  I’m so sure you’ll find value in this product; we are offering you a 30 day money back guarantee.  If you are not completely intrigued by these NPCs, just email me and I’ll PayPal you a refund.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
