Welcome to Legendary Adventures. This series is intended to be an accessible and versatile resource for gamemasters on a budget and with limited preparation time, or those simply looking for inspiration and new ideas. Available for less than a plain cheese pizza, each Legendary Adventure is compatible with the OGL 5e ruleset and offers gamemasters a captivating adventuring hub suitable for low-level parties, a collection of varied, original quests/adventuring materials which complement the setting perfectly, and appendices presenting new non-player characters, monsters, and rules options to further develop the unique theme of the locale.

In Legendary Adventures - Lost Ruins, we introduce the academic and scholarly Selbrickshire Initiative. This world-renowned historical society seeks to preserve the legacy of the past through the exploration of ancient, forgotten sites, the reclamation and cataloguing of lost treasures, and answering questions about the societies, civilisations, and events of yesteryear that have long plagued modern thinkers.

The organisation has recently uncovered the location of a religious site of tremendous historical significance that was once a centre of worship for a powerful, occult sect of the ancient Quotekhi people. An expedition to the ruins was quickly mounted, however when the adventurers aiding the Selbrickshire team of scholars and historians vanish without warning, the archaeologists have a difficult choice to make; to abandon their efforts altogether or to recruit fresh meat to discover what terrible secrets the sleeping ruins harbour.

Legendary Adventures: Lost Ruins features:

  • Lore. Introductions to the Vind'l Svar region, Mexacotzin Ruins, and Selbrickshire faction; as well as an exposé on two prominent Quotekhi deities, the goddess Elochtaca & her slippery brother Ixcazoh.
  • Alphabet. A section on the alphabet/script of the ancient Quotekhi people which could easily be lifted and used elsewhere or in homebrew campaigns.
  • Appendices. Statistical information for several new adversaries, including the howler monkey and howler weremonkey. New player option for the "Academic Graduate", an expansive, versatile new character background that could match most character concepts. And another new player option, the  "Howler Weremonkey", a lycanthropic affliction that causes its sufferer unusual symptoms; a misfit amongst even other lycanthropes.
  • Adventuring Materials. Many exciting new quests aiding the Selbrickshire Initiative, including an arrival quest that tasks the players with rafting to the ruin by traversing an unpredictable waterway, using cryptology to help decipher the Quotekhi language, exploring two giant sleeping ziggurats long undisturbed, competing with kenku treasure hunters for the best loot, and a lot more besides.

Legendary Adventures: Lost Ruins is ;also available in physical print as part of a compendium that collates the three other Volume 1, ;Legendary Adventures (Eastern Highlands, Arctic Tundra, & Buried Alive).

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
