You Know You Want to Play A Dragon!

Not a half-dragon, not a reptilian humanoid, but a DRAGON!

Come and find out if those who meddle in your affairs are crunchy and good with ketchup. Level up as a dragon and grow to the size of a house, breath fire, (or other energy types), struggle for territory, win prestige amongst dragons, slay giants, rule the sky, and embrace your true draconic essence right alongside all the other player characters.

This expanded version includes all the content from the original In The Company of Dragons, revised and expanded with a hoard of new content, including:

  • New Archetypes - the stormclaw (magus) and wardrake (war master), as well as a new horrific undragon, the defiler of lairs (hellion)
  • Draconic Heroes - this multi-class archetype is now compatible with all the hybrid classes from the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Advanced Class Guide!
  • Draconic Exemplars - the paragon class now offers a staggering array of class ability options, including new draconic essences that cover virtually any type of dragon and draconic flair, a new type of draconic weaponry from the mind of Steve Russell that grants spell-like abilities of your dragon type.
  • Outer Dragons! Linnorms! - you asked for them to be added, and we obliged.
  • The Lost Isles! - complete details on our all-dragon campaign setting, its geography, inhabitants, history, politics, adventure hooks, and the servants of Oblivion known as the undragon. Full stats and descriptions are also provided for the Elder Voices and other dragons of note. A complete setting on its own, the Lost Isles can also be tied into Questhaven or any of your other favorite campaign settings.

But that’s not all! Thanks to the wildly successful Kickstarter campaign and much love from our fans, we are proud to provide you bonus content from an amazing list of guest authors:

  • Legacy of the Lost - a scripted sandbox adventure from ENnie Award-winning author Ben McFarland set within the Lost Isles, designed to take dragon PCs from 1st to 6th level.
  • Mythic Dragons - Jason Nelson of Legendary Games brings his expertise with mythic rules to the Lost Isles, including rules for mythic paragon class abilities and mythic dragon feats.
  • Psionic Dragons - Jeremy Smith of Dreamscarred Press adapts the draconic hero archetype and draconic exemplar paragon class to Dreamscarred’s popular psionic rules, plus offers new psionic archetypes, favored class options, and dragon feats.
  • Dracomancers and Dragonriders - Based on ideas from Owen K.C. Stephens and Steve Russell, Wendall Roy outlines a home within the Lost Isles for these two classes from Rogue Genius Games, and details two archetypes - the spirit-bonded rider and the spirit-bonded theurge - that allow dracomancer and dragonrider characters to adventure with dragon PCs.

I know its been about about why the lack of Void dragons and I can understand that but then I need to ask why are there no Vortex Outer dragons, I kind of bought this seeing the tag of "Outer dragons" hoping to have Vortex be an option but its Only Lunar, Solar and Time. If there is a reason for Vortex being left out too would like to know and I think putting in the description (Outer Dragons! - Solar, Lunar and Time) as just stating Outer dragons leads you to believe all 5 types will be in the book.

I bought the original, and I decided to get this as well to see the new options- but I noticed the alternate racial option "Claws" was removed? Why, if I can ask?

Hello!

After browsing both my PDF and the hardcover book I have a question... where is the Silver Flair, if I wanted to pick that up for my silver dragon? I keep looking because I keep thinking "I just must not be seeing it. XD" It there an addendum or update forthcoming with that included, or what it left off for a reason?

Hi Elisa! The flairs were the work of Steve Russell. I wanted to honor Steve's memory by adding a unique piece of him to the expanded work, so other than doing some product development for balance I left his material intact without adding or removing anything. I do not recall at this point whether the silver omission was intentional, but here is some insight and a suggested silver flair from Endzeitgeist that as original author I 100% support:

EZG's comments from the Paizo boards - "I *think* I may clear up the confusion, but I am talking out of my own behind here.
Back in the day, Steven (Rest in Peace) designed these, and I recall talking with him about disposable dragons and how much I loathed the 3.X "slap half-dragon on everything"-phase. In that conversation, we talked about the themes of dragons, and Steve told me that he envisioned silver dragons as the paladins of the species, subject to easier corruption because of their compassion for lesser races. This *could* mean...See more

I love the In The Company of series and particularly this book. Great material!!!

I did notice one dragon type missing that I would have loved to see. Void dragons. The other outer dragon types are listed but I didn't find any information on them. Still if you like dragons this is a great book to have!

Glad you're enjoying it!

Void dragons were intentionally left out as PC options in the Lost Isles due to their nature being related to that of Oblivion. Consider them a corruption related to yet distinct from the undragon.

So sell me on this, as the price tag is a bit daunting for a pdf.

My first impression's after skimming through is mixed... as always, layout's great and bookmarks clean and easy to navigate. Artwork is superb as I could always expect from Rite Publishing. But I ask myself "where do I find all these classes presented in the book" and then facepalm soon after realizing that I had all those book save for ITC of Adventurers. You guys could've at least leave some note in itallic about which 3pp sourcebooks you had referenced to, under the title of chapters pertaining various class options, or go through process of kindly adding a list on the introduction and put abbreviation superscripts above each classes name.<br>
I didn't mind RGG's classes and Psionic class since I have em in my library. But now I realized I have to purchase ITC of Adventurers to make a full use out of the book - once I have money for it that is.. I'm not trying to demean the effort and enthusiasm that has gone into this book, but it has bunched up too many 3pp sources altogether. And for...See more

Now since I found composure, I want to add that I went to ITC of Dragon Expandedss Kickstarter page to find that all the 3pp tie-ins mentioned and ranted about are part of the stretchgoal. And the words I wrote had a strong nuiance that this book had to have all these books to work. Well it's not all that there's more stuffs than 3pp stuffs. It's worth buying... still want to see a listing of names of source books. Thanks

Sorry that was your first impression, Dani, that's unfortunate. The Kickstarter for this product had specific stretch goals that brought in guest authors and tied in other well-received 3pp they have written. 99% of the material in this book is stand-alone, and any referenced third-party material is OGL and available online if you don't want to own a copy of whatever book it came from (although I highly encourage supporting other awesome artists by picking up their products if you like the OGL material).

Yes I own all those books from other publishers, including 'Secrets of Adventures'. They are great supplements, really. You are not getting the point why I was needlessly frustrated at he moment. what I want to say is that, as a reader, you could feel left out even with just a little details that you don't seem to get. I think this book has great, fun contents, and meaty on the crunch and fluff. but it should've at least pointed out what came from which 3pp supplements on respective pages as a wing note reference or leave some words on introduction page, I happened to be frustrated after finding it on ogl page. So I did leave a secondary comment after a day later because I felt sorry for letting out my minute frustration, it was immature, please do understand.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
