Chaos Cypher System Game Master Emulator

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The Chaos Cypher System Game Master Emulator has been developed to enable fans of the Cypher System to play solo or group tabletop RPG adventures without the need of a traditional Game Master. Whether you want to play a quick encounter or two, a one shot game, an ongoing campaign, or use a pre written adventure, the Chaos emulator is flexible enough to handle whatever you throw at it. And it can be used without any preparation.

The emulator is arranged into several sections. It includes a breakdown of the four simple rules required to run the emulator, an overview of gameplay, plus a working example of a scene run using the emulator. It also contains a selection of Adventure Seeds, which are tiny prompts used to begin adventures, and a section that shows you how to generate creatures, cyphers and artifacts on the fly using the emulator.

No one answered you and it is now several months later, but having just purchased this myself to use and having just read the intro. Yes it is meant to use with any Cypher System setting. So yes. I hope that helps you.

I'm not sure why DTRPG won't let me post a review even though I bought this title.

Mechanics in a Nutshell
--
Chaos is a d20 based system for answering binary questions and resolving/modifying scenes. It uses a combination of target numbers and modifiers to achieve this. As it says on the tin, it is meant to be integrated with Cypher system games. But, it is sufficiently versatile enough to be used for general gaming as well.

First Impressions

I like the writing style and the level of detail that the author uses to describe the system. It is neither too sparse or too wordy and good advice is freely mixed in on how to use it. The PDF has nice layout and good looking graphics. It looks fine and was easy reading, but a print friendly version would be welcome. I did find a couple of minor typos (the types that spell checkers won't catch.) But, they did not detract from the understanding of the text. The creature, cypher, and artifact tables are a nice additional...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
