Volo's Unexpected Backgrounds

The famed traveling scholar Volothamp Geddarm has taken a break from his guide to monsters to highlight the backgrounds of those that he has met while traveling the Forgotten Realms. These include: 

• Survivor: someone who escaped unspeakable horrors and is trying to rebuild a life of adventuring. Great for players who want a dark or tragic background. 
• Failed Apprentice: someone who tried but failed to master magic. Great for players who want to have a background with magic without necessarily having any magic ability. 
• Traveling Scholar: someone who is an academic who believes that knowledge can only be found in the field, not within the pages of books. Great for players who want to player adventurous scholars who hunt for knowledge. Elements may be based upon the background of Volo and his peers. 
• Plane-Blessed: someone who has received a boon from a being from elsewhere in the multiverse. Great for players who want to add a planar touch to their characters or who want to have elements of a warlock pact. 

Also included are four first level pregenerated characters that you can use to play with these backgrounds.
