6th edition Call of Cthulhu

Loved it! I liked the gameplay, the world, and the writing. I am not big on the combat, but thankfully combat in this system is not as much needed as D&D. I played only one game, and even tho I knew what was going to happen via reading everything from Lovecraft. I was still locked in fear more than once in the play through. Great game. Get it! The Great Cthulhu Demands It!!!

Cortex Classic System Role Playing Game

So I found cortex on a youtube review, and I thought it sounded intriguing. I got it, and tried it, and was not happy. I hear that many people like it, but I just don't know why, it seems clunky, and unbalanced in all its forms. I does not focus on gameplay, or story, leaving me at a table wondering "What am I supposed to do with it then?" I decided not to try it, it is just a little too crunchy for me. But I worked on a campaign that I gave up on half way. It just wasn't worth it. But if you like very random rolls, realistic combat, and forced character development this can be a potentially good product for you.

DC ADVENTURES Hero's Handbook

I liked it, I am a total marvel person, and still I like it. They did not describe the combat very well or the character creation for that matter. But it is a solid product. The art is fantastic, and the powers and equipment divers enough that I could make any kind of super hero/villain. I did not play it yet, but I made some characters with the system and I am very happy with what I found.

Basic Roleplaying

I will be honest, this could have been better. It has no setting which for me is always a plus, however it also has more rules than needed. A lot of them are optional, yet I don't want to have to look at a matrix chart just to see if my character is stronger then another. The combat is very broken, but that adds more to the realism in my opinion. I tried a zombie survival game, and it went well, but all my players agreed that there where just too many rules needed to do the simplest of tasks. In all it is an okay system, not great, but not bad either. I just wished that chaosium would have made these rules a bit easier to understand.

I actually kind of liked this system. I am not that big of a fan of diceless rpgs, but it is so simple and fun that I cant help but like it in some ways.
