Vortex
Publisher: Monte Cook Games

Vortex's review depends a lot on how you want to run it. It works great as a two part con game complete with pre-gens. Outside of a con game it is a bit more difficult to get players involved. It is always hard to review modules without giving away the plot but the hook goes basically "You meet a group of unpleasant people who tell you to go away and then enter a building that disappears but accidentally leave a clue that tells you where the building will be in the near future so you can take days to travel there." There is a good amount of detail about the people but not a lot of chance to use it. The production is good and the second part ramps up the unusual to give a good feel of the world but it is very easy for characters to wander off the path and not see the cool stuff without some very heavy handed GMing. (Which would not be needed in a Con game where the player mentality is very different.) I'm giving it an average 4 with a point in either direction depending on whether you are playing in a home campaign or at a con.

Honor + Intrigue
Publisher: Basic Action Games

This is a good simple system that does what it sets out to do. If you want to play a swasbuckling type campaign where it is possible to take out tons of mooks in a single action but still need to worry about both your dueling skills and you reputation then this should work for you.

This is everything you need as a player. A wealth of information on learning the earthdawn system. Written in clear language that explains things well. Good if you are looking for a fantasy game that actually has a reason for dungeons that makes sense.

Mutants & Masterminds Archetype Archive 1
Publisher: Green Ronin Publishing

If all you are expecting is a few more Archetypes in the exact same format as the MnM2 book then this is a good product. The art is good and the layout is exactly as it is in the book. 1 page per archtype complete with picture. I was just expecting more. The archtype descriptions were rather short with some being just a one sentance description of the name. There was no discussion of PL levels above or below 10 or possilbe variations on a theme. A couple of the archetypes had close to a third of the page in whitespace. I also find it anoying when the cover page, table of context, and OGL are counted in the page count. If 20% of the pages aren't really usable material I would like to know up front, especially if it has a high page cost.

LIKED: Art and Layout

DISLIKED: Lack of depth of Archtypes

QUALITY: Disappointing

VALUE: Disappointed
This is a great product. It takes a niche power and expands it to fun levels that could be used as a campaign in itself.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
